It took five years in the making to create Cozumel’s first and finest golf course. Situated on the north western shore of the island, the Cozumel Country Club brought to the island Cozumel’s second most popular sport after diving for its visitors. Nicklaus Design Group took on the challenge of building an impeccable course while being sensitive to the natural surroundings. The result is an alluring course that maintains its beauty meanwhile being the only golf course in Mexico to have an Environmental Planning Certification from the Audobon Cooperative Sanctuary System. Fairways wind through mangrove swamps and Yucatan jungle, offering players spectacular views of Cozumel’s natural paradise. The 18 hole 72 par course will challenge players of all skill with its 6,734 yards of relentless beauty. With at least half of the holes laid with water hazards and the Mayan jungle having a habit of keeping stray balls, players must use their best swinging skills while facing this course of natural wonder. The club’s thatched roof clubhouse provides golfers with a whole host of facilities such as stores, rentals, putting and practice greens, and a snack bar.
